Irwin, who recently re-signed with the Heads & All Threads Suzuki team for next season after riding the 2015 RM-Z450 to a race win first time out at the final British Championship round, is no stranger to the Japanese championship, after competing in the same event last season. Sadly a shoulder in jury sustained while winning last year’s Weston Beach Race hindered his performance in Japan.
This weekend however, a fully fit Irwin is hoping to challenge to established Japanese front runners and round the season off with a win.
He said, “I’m really looking forward to this weekend and getting back on the new RM-Z450.
“The bike’s already made a big impact and obviously we took a moto win the first ever time we raced it at the final British round, so that stands us in good stead for this weekend.
“I enjoyed coming out to Japan last year and competing, but it was overshadowed slightly with my shoulder injury. This year however I’m feeling good and looking forward to challenging at the sharp end, and want to thank the factory Suzuki team in Japan for the invite.”
